The Treasure Chest is this big toy box that every patient of the Valerie Fund can go through and pick a toy they want to take home after each of their visits. Phoebe has picked out quite a few great toys! She has gotten a large Lisa Franks lipstick bank full of stickers, pencils, stationary, erasers and puzzles, a holiday edition Barbie, a Rapunzel doll that came with two extra dresses, and a lot of other fund things!
This Treasure Box helps brighten the children's days and makes going to the doctor a little easier for them.
I had thrown my mom a surprise birthday party and asked all the guests to bring a toy to donate. I told them how she didn't want anything for herself, she wanted to pay it forward to the group that has been instrumental in Phoebe's care. Everyone who came to the party brought toys for the cause! Even people who were unable to attend the party dropped off toys to be donated!
Today I brought up a huge box full of toys to The Valerie Fund to donate to the Treasure Chest. The staff was so thankful for the donation and even the children in the waiting room started to get excited about what was in the box! These toys, these simple toys, will make children's moments brighter!
I encourage everyone who follows this blog to go out and buy a toy to donate to their local Valerie Fund or Children's Hospital. It doesn't have to be a big fancy, flashy toy. $10 will get a great toy that will make a child's day and even if it's just for a short while, it could help them feel better!
This is a great way for you to Roar with Phoebe!
