You, my sweet girl, are one of my life’s greatest blessings. I thank God every day that He chose me to be your mommy. From the moment I found out that I was pregnant I knew you were special. You were a miracle we didn’t think was possible.
You have brought so much joy and laughter into our home. Since the moment you were born your smile and giggle could light up even the darkest day. You are like our own drop of sunshine sent to remind us to look for the bright side of things and to treasure every moment to its fullest.
I just want you to know, my precious angel, that I am so sorry for all that you have been going through. It is very hard for mommy to see you go through everything you have and not feel on some level that I have let you down. As your mommy I am supposed to protect you, keep you healthy and safe, and fix whatever is wrong. It breaks my heart to know that I have not been able to do that for you.
I will promise you this, baby girl, I will never stop fighting for you. I will go to the ends of the earth to find the team of professionals that knows the most about your condition. I will seek second, third and fourth opinions if I need to.
I will not let your voice be silenced. I will continue to shout about your condition and the unjust way insurance has handled your situation and care. I will do everything I have to to make sure that you are getting the necessary tests and treatments you need.
I will trust my mommy instincts. When I feel that something is being overlooked or something isn't right, I will trust my feelings and stand strong in my convictions to get to the bottom of things. When I feel that something is unnecessary I will not just go along with the flow because someone else thinks its a good idea. I will make sure no stone is unturned when it comes to your health.
I will continue to learn all that I can about your condition, treatments, tests, procedures, medications, clinical trials, doctors, hospitals and all things related to your health. I will continue to go to school to earn my nursing degree so I can better understand the anatomy and physiology of the human body. I will ask questions, request information and do research so I can make educated decisions on your behalf and know the possible risks, side effects, and benefits of the courses of treatments that are possible.
I will give you as normal and happy life as possible. I want you to experience all the wonderful things that life has to offer, and I want you to feel like a normal 3 1/2 year old girl. I will teach you how to swim, how to ride a bike and how to garden. I will take you to the beach to find sea shells, to the zoo to see the tigers, and on play dates with your friends. I don't want you to feel like you are missing out on anything. I will do everything I can to help you to not feel like you are.
Most importantly, I will always love you and I would not change a thing about you. You are perfect just the way you are. Nothing, and I mean nothing could ever make mommy feel differently!
I am blessed beyond measure to share this journey with you and hand in hand is how we will continue to face each day. Together, as it always has been and as it always will be.
God knew what he was doing when He made you mine!
Thank you, my rare jewel! You taught mommy how to Roar!
All my love, always and forever,
Mommy
