An amazing group of skaters signed up to skate for Phoebe and help us raise awareness for our cause! When we got to the rink, some guys were already there ready to strap on their gear, warm up and play!
We had worked tirelessly over the past week to make sure we picked the right songs for warm ups to help pump the guys up, and I must say we did a great job! All the skaters immediately looked energized and eager to start the game as the music played and they took practice shots! Of course we ended the list with Phoebe's song, "Roar"!
To start the game off I carried Phoebe onto the rink where she was handed a special blue puck to drop! At first she was nervous being out there among all of these strange guys in helmets and gear, but the fear quickly melted away as she wore one of her room melting smiles and dropped the puck in between the two skaters! The blue team won the puck, gave it to Phoebe to keep and then we were escorted off the rink so the game could begin!
The game was four 15 minute quarters, and half time consisted of a skills competition! The crowd watching was cheering and clapping the entire time while oohing and aahing at the skills and technique the skaters used!
By the end of the game Phoebe felt right at home in the middle of all the skaters!
We were so blessed to have a friend put this together for us and doubly blessed to meet the amazing group of men who signed up to skate for Phoebe! Each one of them helped make Phoebe's roar that much louder!
We are already talking about making this game an annual event!
