This morning I got a phone call from Assemblyman Bramnick's office to tell me they had received my letter and that Phoebe's issue was a top priority! They told me he had already contacted the head of DOBI and were expediting the appeals process with Aetna.
When the mail came, I got a letter from Aetna stating that they had had another change of opinion and that some of the first set of testing were going to be covered as in-network. We don't know how much is covered, but at least they are acknowledging that these are necessary and real tests.
When I was getting to leave the house with Phoebe for an event this evening, my phone rang and it was the immunologists office. Aetna had called them to let them know that the second set of testing was also going to covered as in-network. Again, we don't know how much is covered, but it is something!
All from the hard work and dedication of our team of doctors, DOBI and Assemblyman Bramnick. (I wonder who else was involved since I had sent letters to the Commissioner, Governor and a Congressman as well)
I could never have imagined that the day would have gotten better....but it did!!
The event Phoebe and I were attending was the annual Bernards Township PBA Golf outing. The PBA asked us to be there for a check presentation of their donation to help offset Phoebe's medical expenses. What we didn't know was that was only the start of a very touching and heart warming evening.
The Warren Township PBA, without hesitation, matched Bernards donation. Another anonymous golfer reached out to also match their donation. People came up to our table, said hi to Phoebe, wished her well and generously handed us donations, or pledged to send in donations. The outpouring of love and support from our community was beyond anything I could have ever expected.
Phoebe was like the bell of the ball dancing around her chair in her Minnie Mouse dress, eating cupcakes, carrots and potatoes, and giggling and waving at her new friends. She especially got a kick out of the door prize portion, cause when her numbers were called we let her pick which baskets she wanted as her prize. (Warren PBA gave Phoebe their door prize tickets, so she had a stock pile of them) She ended up going home with 12 prizes!
All the love, support and encouragement that we received today has truly been a blessing.
Phoebe's roar has touched the hearts of many.
