We were able to come home from the pulmonologist....for now.
He did a nasal swab to see if he could identify any viruses Phoebe was suffering from. When we got the phone call of the results...we learned she has THREE. And not just any three. Three of the "meanest" viruses a kid could have....RSV, Coronavirus and Rhino Enterovirus.
With these viruses, she will get much worse before she starts to get better, usually days 3-5. Her cough appeared yesterday, but her breathing difficulties appeared today, which is making the doctors think we are only on the first day or so of this.
She needs to take a albuterol nebulizer treatment every 4 hours to help her lungs expand and was prescribed a steroid to take twice a day to try to help with inflammation of the airway.
But other than that all we can do is treat her symptoms and do our best to keep her out of the hospital as long as we can.
