I received a call a couple of weeks ago from the head of Jack's Kids (who has become a very dear friend of our family). He wanted to know if the girls would like a personalized visit from Santa. Like? They would LOVE that! Tears filled my eyes on that phone call, just front the touching gesture that this friend thought some extra Christmas magic could help our family this holiday season.
He put me in touch with one of the organizers of the Santa visit who took individualized wish lists for each of the girls so the elves could start working on their Santa presents. They also asked for some "insider information" on each of the girls, that way Santa could speak to them personally with specifics. They truly wanted to make each stop a unique and personal experience. Well, today was the day Santa came. And the girls could not have loved it more! Phoebe and her little sister Naomi could not believe Santa was at their house, before Christmas, and was talking to them about taking such good care of their rabbit, Olaf! Santa also told them about how much fun Merry (our elf) loves being at our home for the holidays, and tells Santa about all the fun Christmas activities we do. It was an honor to be thought of for this experience, and reminded us all of the many angels we have in our lives every day. This is the holiday where I seem to be crying a lot, because I definitely had tears in my eyes through out this entire experience. Jack's Kids Holiday Brunch looked a little different this year because of the pandemic. But Jack's Kids sure did not disappoint with their festive holiday offerings for the children and their families. They organized a holiday drive through complete with Santa, Elves, cookies, presents and festively decorated firetrucks! Phoebe even got to sit in the drivers seat of an ambulance!
We are beyond thankful for Jack's Kids and to be a member of their family. To be able to celebrate the holiday season with them, in any manner, is a blessing. To know that they are one call away, for us as individuals and as a family, is the definition of selfless dedication. I hope everyone in the Jack's Kids organization, (volunteers, committee members, kids, and families) all have a safe, healthy and magical holiday season. One of our family's favorite holiday traditions is driving around looking at Christmas lights. We are always looking for new places to add to our list of "must see's" during Christmas time.
Well, not even a pandemic continuing in the world could stop the holiday spirit from illuminating the night. We have a full list of places to see this season. From walk through holiday displays, to drive through holiday displays, to driving around looking at the festively decorated homes, we cannot wait to sing and dance along to Christmas Carols while enjoying the magic of Christmastime. Our first stop, Skylands Stadium drive through Christmas Light Display. This display does not disappoint. And they were even able to allow their typical outdoor activities to occur. S'mores. hot cocoa, rides, music, lights and skating. If you have not taken your family yet, put this on your list of things to do for Christmas 2021. The memories that are made there surely do last a lifetime. |
